Tip #1 - Jobs can be done in all budgets, but what is important is to not overspend. Renovations to a property add value in the resale market but those returns are diminished past a certain point. The following examples can be used as a guide to maximize those returns on the investment you make:

• New kitchen – spend between 6%-8% of the property value.
• New bathrooms – spend between 3%-5% of the property value.
• Landscaping – spend between 3%-5% of property value.

So for example if your home is valued at $400,000 and you want to renovate your kitchen then a good budgetary number to think about in terms of keeping the costs to a maximum to maximize return on your investment would be in the $24,000-$32,000 range.
